CEO & Senior Colorgrader: Peter Deinas

“Art is communication.”
If you have nothing to communicate art is unable to talk.

Founder, managing director, creative initiator and supervisor. Peter Deinas is the lynchpin of Scanwerk: the one with communicative mind, opinion leader with new project ideas for the future. Creative vision and knowledge must be in his genes — he has already proven to have strong sense of design focus and entrepreneurial spirit. Because of his motto “communication is art and knowledge”, the Canadian-by-birth made his degree in Communication Science, Politics, Economics, and Market & Psychology of Advertising.

He gained management experience as a music studio producer at BMG Ariola, before starting a career as colourist and completely devoting himself to visualised expression in film, media and advertising — then founded his own post-production company.

He attained practical experience and know-how over the years while working for ARRI, Bavaria Film Das Werk in Munich, Germany. He has worked for almost every national and many international brands. The list of his previous clients starts with “A” for Allianz, Al Arabia, ARD, Audi, through BMW, Braun, McDonalds, Porsche, ProSieben, Siemens, Schwarzkopf and ends with “Z” for ZDF. He has also done film restoration for the Fassbinder Foundation, the Murnau Foundation, Wim Wenders and John Woo.

The goal to always aim high, diligence and a sense of quality are the hallmarks of his work and commitment, and also the reason for the succesful founding of Scanwerk in 2002. From the beginning, he as decision maker developed his services around the mottoes “state of the art” and “digital workflows”. Leadership skills, flexibility, imagination, and ingenuity to find new solutions, all count just as much. Based on these convictions and motivation, the company has developed a solid reputation in the post-production industry, and continues to grow even further.
